1) Position: REGIONAL SALES MANAGER

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

To sell the full portfolio of Marine electronics products and services which includes, but is not limited to, delivering service and technology solutions to ensure the day-to-day fulfilment of customer orders. To represent the senior management team with the local office’s, and through appropriate direction, ensure their offices meet or exceed their targets.

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for bringing sales and orders to the business over the top of the service activities undertaken by the Regional Office’s they represent. The post holder will be charged with developing customers and business opportunities within their region, and influencing customers at a higher level than the engineering team.

The Regional Sales Manager is also expected to represent their assigned Regional Offices at company Management meetings to report on all performance indicators, including but not limited to Sales, Costs and Engineer Utilisation. They will be responsible for achieving targets for sales, cash flow, and debtor profile. Through influencing and direction of their regional offices, a Regional Sales Manager will represent the Management team on a local level, and take corrective action to ensure their offices achieve targets. Regional Sales Managers are expected to ensure consistent profitable growth in sales revenues, and provide effective forecasting of their activities to the Senior Management team.It is expected through knowledge of industry and contact with clients, that the Regional Sales Manager will make a positive contribution to the strategy of the Marine business.

This role is a direct report to the Head of SIRM UK.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • To deliver consistent profitable growth in sales revenues, and provide effective forecasting of their activities to the Senior Management team.
  • The delivery of sales orders to the business (own your agreed budget). Working with our UK team, the job holder is charged with interacting with customers and developing local business to support the sales number and achieve a sustainable engineering utilisation level for their team.
  • To lead and influence appropriate Company resources to ensure efficient and stable sales results.
  • To influence at various levels within the business to satisfy customer demands in a profitable way.
  • To regularly collaborate with the Head of SIRM UK to establish sales targets and to contribute to sales strategies to improve market share in all business verticals.
  • To perform sales activities with customers and support negotiations for best price and discounts with suppliers where appropriate.
  • To accurately forecast sales revenue streams and provide full reporting on phasing and delivery.
  • To develop specific plans to ensure service utilisation and revenue growth in all Company’s products and services by building a realistic and sustainable pipeline.
  • Has responsibility to produce quotations and owns the sales element of any system proposal documentation going to the customer.
  • Undertakes continual development independently to understand emerging products and multi- product sales opportunities. 

INTRINSIC FACTORS 

This role is full time and will require regular travel both in the UK and overseas. There will also be an element of office-based working. Use of display screen equipment is also required. Security clearance may also be necessary. 

KNOW-HOW 

The following skills and qualifications are required:
  • Higher qualification such as a degree/ HND in a technical discipline or Marketing is essential.
  • Relevant and recent marine electronics domain knowledge and experience regarding the technology on board ships is essential.
  • Technical knowledge and competency, able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the
  • Regulations surrounding the Marine industry as well as a broad knowledge of electronics products.
  • A full UK Drivers licence and valid passport are essential. 

EXPERIENCE 

  • Compatible and proven track record of being responsible for maximising the contribution made by a dynamic Sales Support department within a modern, progressive and fast-moving successful Company
  • Proven successful experience in Leadership and driving a business forward – ideally, being able to demonstrate effective past-management of Maritime projects and the possession of keen skills in motivation, decision-making, and positively influencing others.
  • Good track record in customer service, sales or other applicable role in which customer contact was critical to success.
  • Proven experience in influencing and/or persuasion of a management team is essential.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • An excellent communicator, able to clearly express ideas in both written and verbal form to a variety of audiences.
  • Proven ability to think in an entrepreneurial way and to apply good commercial business sense whilst taking into consideration the implications of the larger industry and SIRM business to the decision-making process.
  • An excellent and up-to-date working knowledge of the UK and international maritime markets - including relevant clients and suppliers.

2) Position: Principal Engineer 

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

By their experience and training, a Principal Engineer is a Marine Electronics Engineer who can undertake small projects and lead a team of Engineers in their day-to-day duties both on-board ships and in the workshop / office. The post holder will work with the Regional Manager and office Sales Administrator to ensure a profitable operation and develop and maintain client relationships.  In addition to their technical role, the Principle Engineer duties include; efficient management of the engineering and support resources, customer services and driving transactional sales for their offices. This role is a direct report to the Regional Manager 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Will lead the team of direct report Electronics Engineers to supervise activities and provide mentoring. 
  • Carrying out installation and commissioning of equipment on customers’ vessels and premises. 
  • Carrying out maintenance and repair of equipment on customers’vessel sand premises and on company premises. 
  • Providing technical support to customers and the company’s sales and service agents. 
  • Promoting and seeking the sales of Company products and services during contact with customers 
  • Works with the Regional Manager and Sales Administrator to ensure the profitable and efficient operation of the Marine service Centre 
  • Able to perform surveys and inspections of ship radio communications and radio navigational installations, subject to being in possession of the appropriate qualifications, accreditations and experience. 
  • Provide quotes to local customers for transactional and service business. 
  • To assist the sales team in using established personal contact and rapport with local customers to help with sales in other business areas. 

INTRINSIC FACTORS 

This role is full time and will require regular travel both in the UK and overseas. As this is a service role, there is a reasonable expectation for flexibility with working hours and willingness to undertake overtime. There will also be an element of office-based working. Use of display screen equipment is also required. Security clearance may also be necessary. 

KNOW-HOW 

EDUCATION 

A HND/HNC technical qualification or similar training in an electronics discipline is essential. 

KNOWLEDGE 

  • Relevant and recent marine navigation and communications domain knowledge regarding the technology on board ships is essential.
  • Technical knowledge and competency, able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the Regulations surrounding the Marine industry as well as a broad knowledge of electronics products. 

EXPERIENCE 

  • Past experience in a service industry as well as an in-depth knowledge of the wider maritime community is essential. Technical background which would allow an understanding of concepts of all areas of Marine electronics. Experienced in engineering management and team leadership is essential. 
  •  Good track record in customer service, sales or other applicable role in which customer contact was critical to success. 
  •  Demonstrate and have skills to lead, manage and organise small projects 

Desirable 

  • GMDSS operator’scertificate 
  • Radio survey experience 
  • BOSIET or OLF certification 
  • Experience working for a marine electronics service company 
  • Navigation and Communications manufactures training courses  

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Technical competency, able to show an in depth understanding of the rules and regulations surrounding the marine industry as well as knowledge of electronics engineering. 
  • Working knowledge of the UK maritime market including relevant suppliers. 
  • A full drivers licence is required.

3) Position: Marine Electronic Engineer

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

By their experience and training, a Marine Electronics Engineer is a professional who can independently undertake installations and repair services on Marine Navigational and communications systems on a variety of vessel types. A Marine Electronic Engineer’s primary role is to conduct installations, and provide maintenance and repairs service for vessels safety, communications, and navigation systems. They are expected to conduct safety surveys of a merchant vessel in line with SOLAS requirements, the relevant Classification societies, or MCA. Through continuous development of technical knowledge, they are expected to advice stakeholders and customers when requested to support sales.

It is expected that engineers will promote sales of the company’s goods and services during the course of their duties.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Works with the Principle Engineer and appointed Administrator to ensure the efficient operation of the Marine service Centre
  • Carrying out installation and commissioning of equipment on customers’ vessels and premises
  • Carrying out maintenance and repair of equipment on customers’ vessels and premises and on company premises
  • Providing technical support to customers and the company’s sales and service agents
  • Promoting and seeking the sales of Company products and services during contact with customers
  • Works with the Principle Engineer and appointed Administrator to Maintain existing client relationships and develop new
  • Able to perform surveys and inspections of ship radio communications and radio navigational installations, subject to being in possession of the appropriate qualifications, accreditations and experience
  • Be competent with marine equipment and integrated systems in line with their experience and qualifications
  • to travel to other UK and Foreign locations as / when required

INTRINSIC FACTORS

This role is full time and will require regular travel both in the UK and overseas. As this is a service role, there is a reasonable expectation for flexibility with working hours and willingness to undertake overtime. There will also be an element of office-based working. Use of display screen equipment is also required. Security clearance may also be necessary. This role includes a requirement to use harness equipment to work at height. All Marine Electronics Engineers must be able to pass a working at height medical and pass an annual practical training course.

KNOWLEDGE 

  • Relevant and recent marine navigation and communications domain knowledge regarding the technology on board ships is essential.
  • Technical knowledge and competency, able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the Regulations surrounding the Marine industry as well as a broad knowledge of electronics products. 

EXPERIENCE 

  • Past experience in a service industry as well as an in-depth knowledge of Marine Navigation and communication systems is essential.
  • Good track record in customer service.
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in an Electronics / Electrical discipline
  • Full driving licence

Desirable

  • GMDSS operator’s certificate
  • Radio survey experience
  • BOSIET or OLF certification
  • Experience working for a marine electronics service company Navigation and Communications manufactures training courses
